This is an original Hawker Hurricane control grip recovered from a Hawker Hurricane Fighter that crashed West of Toronto in 1942 in a marsh area. This story was relayed when the item was presented to me at a Hamilton Airshow in Canada after I flew demonstration flights in the mid 1970s. This is an extremely rare item and one that will probably be impossible to find on any market. Replicas were on the market in the past and sold for 1,800 pounds in Europe, but they were not originals, only copies. This is the real deal and something only for serious aviation or WW-2 collectors and it would be the center piece in any collection.

The napkin rings are hallmarked Sheffield England, Sterling, the date 1944 along with the maker's mark for SS (unknown silversmith mark). The hall was situated within this key strategic area. The First Aid Unit was involved in preparing for this crucial part of the invasion.

I believe it was made c. 1940. It has the serial number 118294. The Air Ministry brass plaque is present and it gives the reference number as 6A/0.726.
